About this Event
The first time Big Luke & The Soul Disciples went to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, in January 2024, they played Club 152 on Beale Street and made the semifinals. The Kansas City Blues Society sent them back as its band entry in 2025.
Adrian Wilson is the band's founder, bandleader, and lead vocalist. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, sang in the church choir as a kid, and credits his grandfather for his love of the blues. He also plays saxophone and organ and writes originals; the band released the single "Say a Prayer for Me" on Christmas Day 2023.
The band's own bio says they can switch from blues to smooth jazz, Motown, R&B, funk, and even country. They've also played a live set in KKFI's studios for the station's 2025 Spring Band Auction, the Boulevardia main stage, and a free headlining night at Rock Island Live in June 2026.
The Blue Room, 1600 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO 64108. Friday, October 23, 2026, at 5:30 pm. $5 general admission; complimentary for AJM members.
