Beach Dreams Market is throwing the doors open — just 9 miles from the Carolina Opry, a must-see tribute collection for every Indigo Girls fan.
Forty years ago I watched two women from Georgia play in bars nobody had heard of. This Saturday they’re playing the Carolina Opry, nine miles from my shop, and I can’t think of a better reason to celebrate.
This has been the hardest year of my life. I lost my horse, and two weeks later I lost my best friend. I checked out for a few months after that, and the thing that got me through was what it’s always been: every cup of coffee at home starts with an Indigo Girls record. Somewhere in those months, listening to their music, I started writing songs of my own to work through the grief. I can’t really play yet, and trust me, you don’t want to hear me sing, but I’ve found more healing in it than I can explain, and now I’m learning guitar. Where there’s loss, there is growth.
Now that I’m back in the shop, I’ve brought that ritual with me. I added a turntable, and every morning the first pot of coffee brews to one of their albums. It’s the perfect blend, and I’m loving it.
So this weekend is my thank-you, from one fan to the rest of you.
Come by Saturday, October 10 (8–3) and Sunday, October 11 (8–2). I’ll be spinning favorites from my collection all weekend, including some rare pressings, and you can flip through their high school yearbooks, Setlist Volume One, LPs, posters, photos and more. I’ll be drawing names throughout both days for autographed CDs, photos and other collectibles I’ve gathered doubles of over the years. No purchase necessary, just walk in and tell us you’re a fan.
While you’re here: we’re North Myrtle Beach’s only coffee roaster, and we have loose-leaf teas, smoothies, handmade soaps, scrubs and body butter, and vinyl from many artists now for sale. This weekend also marks 11 years of Beach Dreams Market in the heart of North Myrtle Beach.
