Indigenous resistance in Mexico

Delegates from the National Indigenous Congress of Mexico (CNI) and human rights center Frayba in Chiapas are coming to Copenhagen!
Their visit will take place as CNI celebrates 30 years of struggle and resistance, and will highlight the serious human rights violations happening right now in Mexico. They will share how Indigenous people are building alternative ways of life, resistance and autonomy from their territories. The visit seeks to build bridges of internationalist solidarity and collaboration with activists and social movements, that are committed to justice, dignity and the defence of the people.

What is the CNI?
The National Indigenous Congress was established on October 12 in 1996. Proposing to be the home of all indigenous peoples and a space for reflection and solidarity to strengthen the struggles of resistance and rebellion, while maintaining own forms of organization, representation and decision-making. CNI are the people who continue to be despite the five centuries of extermination, violence, domination, dispossession by capitalism and its representatives of death. Capitalism was born from the blood of indigenous peoples and continues to feed on it.
What is FRAYBA?
Frayba is a non-profit Civil Organization, independent of any government or political ideology or religious creed. Working for the defense and promotion of Human Rights in a relationship of mutual determination with the processes of indigenous peoples and communities in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Frayba has its origin in the framework of the social and ecclesial processes conceived in the 70's and 80’s. Frayba shares the anti-systemic, anti-capitalist and anti-hegemonic principles with civil and peaceful proposals such as The Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle of the EZLN.
