The 2026 Indigenous North Americans Event will feature Gwendolen Cates, author, filmmaker and photographer and her documentary The Doctrine, which follows a group of Indigenous youth in the Twin Cities who request a meeting at the Vatican in Rome to demand the repudiation of 15th century Vatican decrees that authorized conquest and colonization, and codified racism and slavery. There will be an opening reception featuring photography from her book Indian Country, a screening of The Doctrine, and a Q&A with both Gwendolen and Mitch Walking Elk.
