Message From Indiana South Governor:
Bringing Hope to Life: Optimism in Action and the Power of Our Growing
Community
To every member and guest who is joining us today at the Plainfield Carlucci Aquatics
Center—whether you are a long-serving officer or leader, a returning volunteer, or
stepping into your very first meeting—welcome.
Our quarterly meetings serve as an essential part of our Optimist Mission. They keep
us focused and on track to achieve Optimism in our communities and across Southern
Indiana. They are a dedicated space to conduct essential business, to learn about
recent accomplishments of our clubs, and new opportunities for collaboration. More
than that, they offer a space and a time for connection with old and new friends, for
sharing ideas, and mutual inspiration.
Throughout today’s session, you will suffer through routine business, hear updates on
two Club Showcase Projects, learn from dedicated guest speakers, and have the
chance to contribute your ideas during our open discussions.
Today, as we gather for our Quarterly Meeting, we celebrate the accomplishments
that Optimism has made toward fulfilling its core community mission, but at the
same time acknowledge we have serious membership issues that can only be
addressed by individual clubs and their members. To survive and thrive, we must
regain a profound commitment to recruiting new members within our own local
club and its members. Remember, if you ask 100 times, you will probably get
turned down 95 times but have 5 new members. The rejection is worth the gain.
My team and I are dedicated to helping your efforts in any way possible.
Also, we have lost some clubs over the past few years. We also have several
clubs that are approaching critically low membership. We must NOT find
ourselves exiting additional communities; rather, we need to strive to identify the
best options to build a new club and work to achieve that goal. There are too
many communities across Indiana South that need the presence of an Optimist
Club. Share your ideas about how to make that happen.
Again, my team and I are dedicated to working with you to build a new club in
your area.
For our veteran members, today is an opportunity to reconnect, to share and, indeed,
to learn. Thank you for being here again.
For our newest attendees, it is an invitation to dive in, to find your passion within both
your club and your district, and to take ownership of our shared mission. Thanks for
donating your time and talent today to learn more about Achieving the Mission of
Optimism.
