INDEPENDENT POLITICAL CANDIDATES TRAINING & NETWORKING EVENT ON FRIDAY 4 DECEMBER 2026 AT KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE (KICC) IN NAIROBIPlease register to attend by completing this brief Google form here: https://forms.gle/VaY2ehX68e6qvS5U9
This event is vital for anybody running for political office in the forthcoming 2027 general election in Kenya because anyone can be an independent candidate, especially as political parties will exclude many of you from their nominations. After the parties eliminate their members from nominations, there is usually a scramble to resign, bolt out and run as independent candidates, which is constitutionally and legally onerous unless you understand clearly the requirements and challenges you will face.
Those who do not belong to any parties may already understand some of the requirements of running a campaign as an independent candidate but the obstacles are many, ranging from financial constraints, institutional hurdles, and lack of strong alliances to bolster communication reach and solve logistical problems.
Kenya Independent Political Candidates Alliance (KIPCA) has been supporting independent candidates to run successful campaigns since 2016. We will have experts and relevant institutions in this event to share ideas to help you prepare for your leadership journey. You will meet and build alliances with many other aspiring and current political leaders.
This one-day training and networking event will discuss the following:
1. Constitutional and legal rights and obligations for independent candidates.
2. Policy research and analysis to identify priorities that concern people for incorporation into campaigns.
3. Communication techniques and effective targeting to engage with the electorate.
4. Funding opportunities and strategies to overcome financial challenges of independent candidates.
5. Alliance building to counter isolation and ensure success as an independent candidate.
6. Other topics suggested by participants in the event.
