Caring for someone living with dementia can be exhausting, confusing, frustrating, and often very lonely. Along with the practical challenges of caregiving, there is often a great deal of grief, uncertainty, and emotional weight that others simply don't understand.
In This Together is a place to be with people who do.
There is something incredibly valuable about spending time with others who are walking a similar journey. Some may be facing the same challenges you are today. Others may have already been where you are and can offer insight into what might lie ahead. And sometimes, you may be the person whose experience helps someone else.
You don't have to explain everything. You don't have to pretend things are going well when they're not. There is comfort in being with people who understand, and sometimes that connection is just as important as any advice or strategy we might share.
In This Together is a nine-session series that meets every other week, with a short break for the holidays. Each session combines opportunities for conversation, connection, and mutual support with practical tools for navigating the challenges of dementia caregiving.
We also incorporate materials from STaRT (Strategies for Relatives), a research-based program developed at University College London. Together, we'll explore stress management, changes in behavior, communication, planning for the future, and ways to care for our own well-being while caring for someone else.
This is not simply a class about dementia. It's a place to share experiences, learn from one another, find encouragement, and perhaps even enjoy some laughter along the way.
You are welcome exactly as you are. Whether you're new to caregiving or have been on this journey for years, your experiences matter, and you have something to offer.
Because sometimes the most important thing we can remember is that we are in this together.
