We tell stories every day. Some seem ordinary, others extraordinary, but they all have something in common: our desire to be seen and heard. How we tell our stories—and how we listen to the stories of others—can shape our relationships, both with ourselves and with one another.
Let's practice doing it better.
In the Telling is a new three-evening series from The Story Assembly that explores how storytelling and listening can bring us closer to one another.
Through playful, thoughtfully guided activities, we'll share stories in pairs and small groups, listen with curiosity, discover different perspectives, and explore what happens when we make room for one another's experiences.
Our first theme is Family Stories—the stories we inherit, the ones we tell again and again, and the ones we remember differently. Some are funny. Some are complicated. All offer opportunities for curiosity and discovery.
By returning to the same small group over three evenings, we'll have time to get to know one another and explore what makes conversations and relationships more meaningful.
No storytelling experience needed. No performance. No pressure to share more than you're comfortable sharing.
