A 4-week series about art + science. Follow link to our website to learn more about each week's events.About this Event
Learn, wonder, create! Each week we dig into a different part of Laramie’s landscape (its plants, patterns, wildlife and ancient rocks), then turn what we learn into art. No experience needed. Come to one workshop or all four!
Select weekends, 2–4pm
4th Street Studios, 315 S. 4th St, Laramie
$15 per workshop, materials + refreshments provided
The lineup
- Sun, Oct 18 · Cyanotype Sun Prints
What grows in Laramie, and can we make sun prints out of it? Meet the local plants, then turn them into deep-blue prints using nothing but sunlight. - Sat, Oct 24 · Patterns of Place
Ripples, ridges, cracks and leaves: what patterns does Laramie leave behind? Inspired by Ruth Asawa’s playful potato prints, we’ll use found objects and local pigments to print the patterns hidden in the land. - Sun, Nov 1 · Where the Buffalo Return
From near-eradication to New York’s giant buffalo puppet parade, we’ll trace the buffalo’s story, then write poems and draw the future of our landscape. - Sat, Nov 7 · Layers of Time
Meet the Medicine Bow’s ancient stromatolites with a local geologist, then pour and drip layered paintings inspired by them and Wyoming-born Jackson Pollock.
Sots are limited, so grab your tickets early!
