In Process @ The Watermill Center is our ongoing series of studio visits and open rehearsals that invite the community to gain unique insight into the creative process of our Artists-in-Residence, cultivating an understanding of how artists from across the globe develop new work.
Dario Felli and Flavio Pezzotti’s collaboration grew from their shared experience in theater production, working respectively as sound designer and scenographer. They first met at the International Summer Program at Watermill in 2018 and began a close collaboration with Robert Wilson. In 2023, they moved their practice from the stage into outdoor environments, where natural and pre-existing architectural elements could interact with their visual and sonic approach. Despite their different mediums, they share an interest in creating spaces where viewers and listeners can pause, explore, and find their own way into the work. Their collaboration has produced four artworks at Watermill: Act I (2023), Tape II (2024), (H)ere (2025), and Sotto assedio (2026).
Hiba Baddou (b. 1997, Rabat, Morocco) is a filmmaker, photographer, painter, performer, and art director whose multidisciplinary practice bridges Moroccan heritage with global perspectives. Blending tradition with retro-futuristic aesthetics, her work explores identity, ritual, and language. She studied filmmaking in Paris before earning a master’s in Art Direction at Penninghen. Her work has been exhibited at Paris Photo, the Fondation Nationale des Musées, MACAAL, and the French Institute, among others. Her film Paraboles won the AVIFF Art Film Festival and Saatchi Gallery’s Art for Change Prize and was presented at the Dakar Biennale (2024). She has collaborated with international musicians and performed at ICA London.
Kofi Konadu Berko is the winner of the 2024 Adinkra Poetry Prize. His work explores family, identity, relationships, and cultural heritage, drawing on Akan language, traditions, art, music, dance, proverbs, and riddles to interrogate Ghanaian identity. At the Watermill residency, he will develop Section B: Compulsory Questions, a poetry collection exploring Ghanaian identity through the Akan Twi language. Using riddles and proverbs, the collection examines contemporary issues facing Ghana. His work has appeared in Pure Wata Zine, Adinkra Poetry Prize, How To Write My Country’s Name, and Tampered Press. He is an AKO Caine Prize Workshop alumnus and co-writer of Aku and the Journey of the Turtle Spirit. This residency is in partnership with the Adinkra Poetry Prize.
Paola Fiterre is a Cuban artist based in New York whose practice explores the female body through the lens of migration, identity, and displacement. She studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana and graduated from the International Center of Photography in 2019. A recipient of the Reed Foundation Fellowship for Cuban Artists and the 2023 Cintas Foundation Fellowship in Photography, Fiterre uses her own body as both subject and medium—a space for confrontation and contemplation. Her work examines personal and cultural identity, migration, and humanity’s relationship with the natural world, evoking a visceral reflection on the shared experience of “otherness.”
MIZU is a New York-based musician, composer, and performer exploring transformation and the infinite possibilities of self through an expansive musical practice. Trained as a cellist at The Juilliard School, she transforms self-recorded acoustic samples into distinctive soundscapes through layering, analog effects, and digital deconstruction. Blending classical training with experimental techniques, her work offers deeply emotional, boundary-pushing storytelling. Her albums Forest Scenes and Distant Intervals received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, NOWNESS Asia, and Bandcamp Daily. Her score for 4 | 2 | 3, premiered at Baryshnikov Arts Center in 2024, was praised by The New York Times, Pitchfork, and The FADER.
Christiana Kosiari is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer based in Athens. A graduate of the Greek State School of Dance, she has developed work spanning performance, choreography, and video dance. Her solo RUNWAY premiered at Onassis Dance Days 2024 and toured internationally, while Chained received the 2nd Jury Prize at Masdanza Dance Festival 28. She has participated in the U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography and collaborated with artists including Romeo Castellucci and Siamese Dance Company. In 2025, she was a resident artist at the Watermill Center, where she initiated UnPhobia, later developed through Onassis AiR into Echo Chamber (2026). She has been teaching dance since 2007.
