In conjunction with our special exhibition, Happiest Place on Earth: The Disneyland Story take a spin into the whimsical world of Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, one of Disneyland’s most beloved original attractions! Inspired by Disney’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic book The Wind in the Willows as a segment of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949), this Fantasyland favorite has captured the joy of reckless adventure since the Park opened in July 1955. We will explore the artistry of motorcars in animation history and how on-rail rides have become a staple of theme parks around the world. Then, using traditional 2D hand-drawn techniques such as timing, spacing, and squash and stretch, we will animate a dynamic scene of a character bouncing down the road!
