About this Event
Where the Two Worlds Touch: Dancing the Space Between
Performance lab and collaorative dances
Part 1
with Joy Cosculluela, RSME/MT
Class size is limited.
In this movement workshop, we explore the fertile dances in the space between each other.
How can we inhabit the collective space we share?
What we do:
- Develop heightened kinesthetic awareness, tuning into the support of Earth and the intelligence of bones, muscles, fascia, skin
- Activate sense of touch, hearing and seeing as we move through space/time
- At the core of our exploration is the art of Active-Receptive dancing (inspired by Anna Halprin’s movement scores) and how we make contact as an invitation to dance the space between.
Through improvisational weaving, what worlds do we create?
- Much like a seed navigating the dark friction of the soil to find its way toward the light, we thread and spiral towards/ away/ with one another.
We find beauty in the vitality and the non-linear quality of emergence.
This lab is for:
- those interested in expanding the capacity to move, embodying shared human experience, and the curiosity of the "between."
To ensure a cohesive group flow, this workshop is intended for participants with some prior movement experience, comfortable with light contact and improvisational practice.
