About this Event

About This Group

Grief doesn't always come with a funeral. For many survivors, grief is a quiet, heavy companion that follows the loss of a relationship, the decision to go "no contact," or the mourning of the life you should have had if abuse hadn't interfered.

At &Rise, we believe that every form of loss is valid and deserves a space to be held. Rising Through Grief is an in-person support group designed for women to come together, share their stories, and find healing in community. Whether you are mourning a loved one, a lost childhood, or a future that was taken away, you don't have to carry that weight alone.

What We Will Explore:

  1. The Many Faces of Grief: Understanding that it’s okay to mourn someone who is still alive.
  2. The "Shadow" Loss: Grieving the safety, time, and versions of ourselves that abuse impacted.
  3. Coping Tools: Practical, trauma-informed ways to navigate the "waves" of grief.
  4. Finding Meaning: How to honor your past while building a powerful, self-led future.

Who This Is For:

This group is a safe space for any woman or non-binary individual who is navigating:

  1. The death of a loved one.
  2. The emotional complexity of going "No Contact" with a family member or partner.
  3. The grief of "what could have been" after surviving trauma.

This group is hosted by the nonprofit organization &Rise. &Rise offers in-person and virtual weekly support groups via zoom that are 100% private, 100% confidential, and 100% supportive!

Please note, this is not a therapy group but a community of women survivors supporting and talking with one another about their experiences and healing.

We have an amazing group of ladies that are kind and know what you are going through. You do not have to suffer alone or suffer in silence, we are here for you! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Kindly note that for students or those requiring letters or signatures for observations, it is essential to inform the support group facilitator in advance and provide a minimum of one week for processing. We cannot ensure the issuance of letters or signatures within a timeframe shorter than 7 days. Additionally, please be aware of a $10 charge associated with attending our groups as a student. This fee covers administrative costs for paperwork and group occupancy. Failure to process payment through our portal may result in the non-release of your documents. To make the payment, please visit: https://www.womenrisechicago.org/donate
