Handmade Pasta 101
About this Event

Roll up your sleeves and discover the art of making fresh pasta from scratch! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn two classic pasta shapes using the same homemade dough: fettuccine made with a pasta machine and rustic pappardelle cut by hand.

Working in groups, you’ll mix and knead your own pasta dough before learning the techniques behind both methods. While the dough rests, you’ll build the rest of the dish and sharpen your knife skills along the way. You’ll learn how to thinly slice garlic, properly mince shallot, and master a chiffonade technique for slicing fresh basil without bruising the delicate leaves.

Next, you’ll prepare a flavorful sauce of sun-dried tomatoes, shallot, garlic, and olive oil, then learn a simple restaurant technique for creating a silky, cohesive sauce: tossing freshly cooked pasta with starchy pasta water to help the sauce emulsify and cling to every bite. Finish your dish with fresh mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic for the perfect finishing touch.

No experience is required! We provide all the equipment and ingredients, which are easy to find at local markets if you don’t already have them in your home kitchen. Our events are casual and meant to be fun and instructive. This class is designed to be just as fun for the cooking enthusiast who wants to be a part of every step as it is for the first-timer who’s happier observing and assisting (or taste testing).

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in, especially if you’re attending as part of a large group. Drinks are available for purchase at the venue bar - outside beverages are not permitted. To ensure the safety and enriching experience of all participants, we require children aged 14 to 17 be accompanied by a parent or guardian during our cooking classes.
