Main Point Books is thrilled to host this unique opportunity to hear renowned poet/scholar Moira Egan in conversation with renowned translator/scholar Emily Wilson. They'll be having a wide-ranging conversation on women in Greek myth and discussing their books "The Furies" and "Crossing the Wine-Dark Sea."
Tickets for this limited-seating, intimate event are $50 and include a copy of both books.
About Moira Egan
Moira Egan has published six collections of poetry in the US and four bilingual collections in Italy. Her translations have been supported by the Raiziss/de Palchi Translation Fellowship of the Academy of American Poets, an NEA Translation Fellowship, and other awards. She has taught in the US, Honduras, Greece, and Italy. Moira last read at Main Point for the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Weekend in 2024.
About Emily Wilson
In addition to being the bane of Christopher Nolan, Emily Wilson is a classicist, translator, professor of classical studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and the author of the bestselling translations of Homer’s The Odyssey and The Iliad. Wilson was named a fellow of the American Academy in Rome in Renaissance & Early Modern scholarship, a MacArthur Fellow, and a Guggenheim Fellow. Wilson is a Professor of classical studies and chair of the program in comparative literature and literary theory at the University of Pennsylvania. Wilson lives in Philadelphia with her family and pets.
