This conversation considers the role of dissonance in an age of re-imagining education. With a specific reference to Anglo-Caribbean realities, our collective contemplation will navigate the possibilities of relational tension between education for (of) consequence and struggles of (for) hope in education delivery. Drawing on the interrogative power of stories, and the explicative power of Caribbean intellectualism from scholars like Lloyd Best and other contemporaries from the global south, this seminar considers how an examination of notions such as 'consequence' and ‘hope' become the source of dissonance needed to create the spark and enabling conditions for ‘being different' and 'doing differently' in education for diversity. The conversation is aspirational yet practical with implications for socially just and culturally relevant education policy and resourcing, initial and ongoing teacher professional development, curriculum, assessment and pedagogy.
