About this Event

About the class:

Immersive is one of the fastest evolving fronts in modern theatre and acting in an immersive show is one of the most rewarding challenges an actor can undertake. To embody another person in the thick of an audience that could do or say anything is both terrifying, and one of the greatest rushes you can have as a performer.

To do it well requires a head for improv, the ability to learn and marshall information with ease, and the bravery to exist vulnerably under frequently bizarre conditions. Combining elements of classic acting techniques, improv, interacting, and even a few skills learned from con-artists, this class will take you through the immersive actor’s toolkit and get you to the next step of your journey in interactive performance.

About the Instructor:

Thomas Burns Scully is an actor, writer and musician who has worked extensively in immersive and interactive theatre for over a decade. His immersive credits include being a devising member of the Drama Desk nominated Live In Theater Company, the Off-Broadway immersive trial show “The Jury Experience”, creating Fortune 500 Anheuser-Busch’s “15 Minutes to Make History” experience at SXSW, and being a founding company member of What May Come Immersive, with whom his immersive play “The Fall of Asa Packer” has been performed in rep for the past three years. He also plays lead guitar in the band Hurricane Holly, and was in a couple of episodes of Broad City.
