This December, the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida returns to Sunshine Cathedral with a concert that asks you to believe. Illuminate: Believe in the Holidays runs Thursday, December 17, through Saturday, December 19, at 8 PM, with a special 2 PM family matinee on Saturday, December 19. That is four chances to experience an evening of music that refuses to let the night win. The holidays ask us to believe in something we cannot always see. We choose to be the light in a world that often feels dim. Illuminate is what we do. The magic of the holidays is why we do it now. Our voices will fill Sunshine Cathedral with beloved classics like "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Angels We Have Heard on High," our traditional candlelight "Silent Night," and "Believe" from The Polar Express. Then we turn up the energy with "Sparklejollytwinklejingley" from Elf, Cher's "DJ Play A Christmas Song," a Dolly Parton tribute with "With Bells On," and "Joy To The World" from The Preacher's Wife.
For LGBTQ+ people, light has always been our language. It speaks of coming out. Of showing up. It makes us seen so others can find their way home. This concert is for the chosen family. It is for anyone who has ever needed a reminder that light lives inside all of us. The Saturday matinee makes it easy to bring the kids, the grandparents, and everyone in between.
