Join us at Ad Lib Gallery, Wimbledon Village for a hands-on experience learning the art of Ikebana with Valerie Fontanier, a certified Instructor in Ikenobo Floral Art, from the renowed oldest Ikebana School in Japan. She is part of the Ikenobō Hananowa London Study group, and she has attended classes and seminars in Uk, France, and Japan, earning her certified diplomas from the Ikenobō headquarters in Kyoto. Her work has also been presented in exhibitions in the United Kingdom and France..
This in-person event will immerse you in the beautiful and ancient tradition of Japanese kadō (the way of flowers), dating back more than 550 years.
After a brief introduction to Ikenobo, and a demonstration, you will be guided through creating your own stunning Ikebana. You will have a chance to work with a variety of floral materials; tools and vases will be provided. You will have the opportunity to arrange a Jiyuka (free Style) using materials of your choice and take pictures of your work in a designated photo area. During the workshop tea and coffee are available.
Participants take home flower and plant materials used in the workshop.
