Taking its title from James Joyce’s Ulysses, ‘If Not a Door’ invites participants to explore the act of looking as a shifting threshold. By closing our eyes, we shut out the physical gallery to open a parallel version of the Pam Open exhibition, one that exists within our own minds. Building on the theme of opening and closing, in this workshop, participants will engage with a single artwork, internalise it through a sensory visual meditation and map that shifting boundary between external sight and internal memory into a handmade zine.

Gan gymryd y teitl o Ulysses gan James Joyce, mae ‘If Not a Door’ yn eich gwahodd i archwilio’r weithred o edrych fel trothwy sy’n newid yn gyson. Drwy gau ein llygaid, rydyn ni’n gadael yr oriel ffisegol ar ôl ac yn agor fersiwn gyfochrog o arddangosfa Agored Pam, un sy’n bodoli o fewn ein meddyliau ein hunain. Gan archwilio’r thema agor a chau, bydd y rhai sy’n cymryd rhan yn y gweithdy hwn yn ymwneud ag un darn o gelf, yn ei fewnoli drwy fyfyrdod gweledol synhwyraidd, ac yn archwilio’r ffin sy’n newid yn gyson rhwng golwg allanol a chof mewnol drwy greu zine â llaw.
