About this Event
For some, to travel is to invite change and difference. For others, to travel is to indulge and find the familiar. For some, adventure is to look, to seek, to engage. For others, adventure is to escape, to forget, to relinquish. While travel necessitates physical movement, adventure can occur via stories, stimulants, and more. Travel requires resources and time; adventure requires curiosity and willingness. Travel & adventure tempts the sociable, the gregarious, and the outgoing. Travel and adventure soothes the solitary, the reticent, and the reserved.
Hosted at the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall at the Central Library, this event features engaging lightning talks that illuminate the stories, ideas, and experiences about travel and adventure. Whether you’re curious about design, history, psychology, culture, literature or the unexpected, Phoenix Rising will inspire.
Delivered in partnership between Calgary Public Library and Mount Royal University's Faculty of Arts, the Phoenix Rising series offers an ongoing program of engagement and support in celebration and advocacy for the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Creative Arts.
