Arts on the Green is delighted to welcome multi-award winning jazz vocalist Ian Shaw this March.
Come to the historic Newington Green Meeting House in Hackney for an evening of iconic music. Shaw, described by The Guardian as “one of the UK’s most honest and musical jazz vocalists”, will join us for an intimate candlelit performance on Friday 20th March 2026 from 7:30pm.
Shaw is known for his distinctive style and his international fame and appeal. He is a regular at top jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s and The Vortex as well as other notable venues like the Barbican. Previous tours have included “Joni at 70 - Ian Shaw Sings Joni Mitchell” while famous albums include “Somewhere Towards Love” (2009) and “Drawn To All Things - The Songs Of Joni Mitchell” (2006). He was described by jazz-pop superstar Jamie Cullum as “incomparable”. He is a regular host on Jazz FM.
Doors will open from 7pm and the performance will begin at 7.30pm. There will be two halves of around 45 minutes each plus an interval of 20 minutes. The bar will open before and after the performances, as well as during the interval, serving a range of alcoholic and soft drinks, tea and snacks.
The Meeting House is the home of New Unity, a radically inclusive community of love and justice. This event is part of New Unity's new arts programme, Arts on the Green. Arts on the Green exists to provide flexible space to radical arts practitioners bringing high quality culture to our community.
