Marcelle Phoenix returns to Melbourne’s iconic Paris Cat for a special one-night-only performance celebrating the release of her latest single, ‘Scarred’ — the final instalment ahead of her debut album.Bringing together original songs from her forthcoming album with music inspired by some of the women who have shaped her own musical landscape — Sinéad O’Connor, Alanis Morissette, Annie Lennox, Kate Bush and Eva Cassidy. Women whose voices found us at just the right moment, whose songs became lifelong companions, and whose music
somehow became part of our own story.
Joined by her sensational band — Paul Carmody (guitar), Chris Monnier (drums) and John Lebesis (bass) — Marcelle brings these songs to life with a sound that moves between the
intimate and the expansive, the raw and the joyful.
A singer-songwriter who breathes rock and soul, Marcelle is an evocative storyteller shaped by stage and screen. Earthy and effervescent in equal measure, she has a way of fifinding the heart of a song and inviting an audience right inside it.
After a string of sell-out shows, ‘I Wanna Thank You’ is an intimate and powerful night of music — a celebration of the women, the songs, the people and the beautifully messy
experiences that leave their mark on us.
