November's "Humanities on Tap" event features a special screening of "The Mothman Prophesies," featuring curators from the Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Join us to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the initial mothman sightings in SE Ohio and West Virginia with a pre-screening happy hour, giveaways, artists and more.Costumes are encouraged for this cryptid celebration! Dress like the mothman himself, or any of his cryptid buddies: sasquatch, chupacabra, even ghosts or fairies: all creatures are welcome here.
There will be a meet-and-greet preceding the movie from 6 to 6:45. Meet the curators of the Mothman Museum, get your refreshments, browse cryptid art from our visiting vendors, take selfies with our cryptid pals and settle in for the night.
The Mothman Prophecies (2002) is a psychological supernatural thriller starring Richard Gere as John Klein, a Washington Post reporter who becomes obsessed with a series of bizarre events in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Gallipolis, Ohio. The movie is known for its unsettling atmosphere and focus on grief and paranoia, rather than direct horror.
