Joel is the author of 'Saving Christians: The Gift of a Multi-Faith World." On December 10, 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in the aftermath of the Second World War. The UDHR is a milestone human rights document that proclaims the inalienable rights of every human being regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, or other status, and Human Rights Day is observed annually around the world on 10 December to commemorate this milestone in human history. The UDHR is the most translated document in the world, available in over 577 languages.
Created with multi-faith input from around the world, Article 18 of the UDHR states that "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance."
