Join the New Market Homeschool Collective for a FREE, hands-on Utility Adventure Day at Huntsville Utilities!
Tuesday, October 27
9:00 AM–1:30 PM
FREE
Ages 9–11 ONLY
25 student spots | 10 adult chaperone spots
Since 2003, Huntsville Utilities has invited local students to spend the day discovering where our electricity, natural gas, and water come from, how utility crews keep our community running, and how to use these resources safely and efficiently.
This isn't just a tour—the kids will rotate through several hands-on demonstrations and experiences:
Training Yard — Watch apprentice linemen in action, including pole-climbing demonstrations, a pole-top rescue, and a staged fuse explosion!
Bucket Truck — Get an up-close look at a real utility bucket truck and the specialized equipment line workers use. One lucky adult chaperone may even get to ride 65 feet into the air!
Dispatch Center — See the "nerve center" of Huntsville Utilities and learn what happens behind the scenes when the power goes out, a water main breaks, or natural gas service is disrupted.
Natural Gas — Learn where natural gas comes from and how it powers our community—and experience the infamous EXPLODING BUBBLES!
Our Water System — Discover how Huntsville's water system works, how our water is cleaned and kept safe, and what we can do to help protect this important resource.
Lunch is included! Each participating student will receive:
2 slices of pizza
Chips
Fruit snacks
A drink

Huntsville Utilities restricts this program to children ages 9–11. Younger siblings CANNOT attend. This is a Huntsville Utilities requirement, so unfortunately we cannot make exceptions.
We have space for 25 children and 10 adult chaperones.
There is NO COST to participate!
This should be such a fun one—electricity, bucket trucks, exploding bubbles, giant utility equipment, and plenty of hands-on learning.
