About this Event
Every word you use is quietly changing how you think, feel, and decide. You just don't notice it happening.
Dr. Sam Maglio is a Professor of Marketing and Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough and the Rotman School of Management, where he has spent his career studying how language, emotion, and time influence the way we think and make decisions.
On October 2nd, he's bringing that to Laugh & Learn.
Here's how the night works:
First → stand-up comedy to warm up the room
Then → Sam takes the stage for a fascinating live talk followed by audience Q&A.
What you'll actually learn:
- How the words you use shape your perception, behaviour, and decisions without you realizing it
- Why language is one of the most powerful tools of persuasion and how it's used on you every day
- How emotion and time quietly influence every choice you make
- What psychology and marketing research actually reveals about how your mind works
This is for you if:
- You've ever wondered why certain words make you feel or act differently
- You're curious about psychology, behaviour, or how language shapes reality
- You want a night that's genuinely funny AND makes you think differently about every conversation you have
- You love leaving an event seeing the world differently
