How will we live together?!
Lectures and guided tours on Italian and Dutch architecture
"How will we live together?" was the title of the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale, curated by Hashim Sarkis. Starting in May 2022, a series of lectures and tours under this title will take place at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Amsterdam. On four evenings, an Italian and a Dutch architect will each give a presentation, followed by a guided tour by architour.
In the context of growing political contradictions and economic inequality, liveability in cities around the world is an important issue. The partners of the international Guiding Architects network share these themes with the public in their work as architects and during the tours in their cities. Convinced that an exchange of these experiences can contribute to an interesting debate and a better understanding of our current condition, architour (as the local partner of Guiding Architects) has initiated a series of lectures and tours on four different themes in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura.
The first event, under the title Habitat, will compare the design of neighborhoods, residential and school buildings in Milan and Amsterdam. It will be followed by Re-set, on the transformation and renovation of public buildings in Turin and Amsterdam, and then Resilience, on water management and building on and under water in Venice and Amsterdam. The last event is called Link It! and is dedicated to the theme of mobility, with examples from Rome and Amsterdam.
On the following days, an architecture tour will take place to further explain and explore the theme. Architect Paul Vlok from architour will take the participants on an excursion to an interesting area in Amsterdam.
Language of the events is English.
Entrance is free
