About this Event

Now that the weather is cooling down, it is time to prepare the garden for winter. Its both a time to garden clean up, but also preparing for your next crops.

Join us for this class. We will discuss:

  • garden clean up
  • winterizing your irrigation system
  • strategies for putting the garden to bed: straw, tarping your garden and cover cropping
  • late plantings: garlic, spinach and so on
  • covering late plantings with frost protection blankes
  • strategies for season extension
  • winterizing your irrigation system


Venue Details
  • Parking Information
       Park in the gravel parking lot next to the community garden and orchard. This is uphill from the community center
  • Bus Line
       67 bus. Get off at William Penn HWY and Northern Pike. About a 15 minute walk down Northern Pike. CAUTION: there is not a sidewalk most of the way and slim sholder to walk on.

       Uneven terrain, close to the parking area
  • Restroom
       Across the parking lot and inside the community center. ~1500' walk from garden
  • Drinking Water
       Water from the hose. Bring your own bottles
