About this Event
This practical, hands-on workshop is perfect for pre-start and early-stage business owners, in particular, those who are working alone or in the first few years of running their business and want to get an insight into PR and securing media coverage and also how to weave it into their wider marketing strategy.
Utilising PR is a great way to raise your profile and build credibility and trust. Whether you are sharing your career journey so far and backstory or highlighting a new product or forthcoming event, exposure in a media title, including your weekly publication, is a great way to raise awareness and shine a light on your business.
In the session, which will be relaxed, informal and interactive, we’ll be covering lots of tactics and ideas, with some great examples, including –
· What makes a good story, finding the hook and the ‘golden nugget’
· How to identify relevant local and sector media contacts
· How journalists work, building relationships with them and being able to confidently respond to any enquiries
· What is a press release and how to write a good one which captures the media’s attention
· The power of a good photo to accompany a story
· The all-important ‘pitch-in’
Attendees will leave with in-depth knowledge on how the media works and how to put themselves forward to secure media coverage and the benefits of PR when it comes to getting your business out there and securing unbiased, third-party endorsement.
The workshop will also cover preparing for interviews, using the bridging technique and how to maximise media coverage across their marketing channels to keep the momentum going.
