D-Day, 1944. Tens of thousands of Allied troops wade ashore to liberate Europe from the forcesof evil. Amid the chaos come stories of terrible tragedy, of the unimaginable losses sustained by literal bands of brothers, and the daring missions staged to bring the surviving family members home. One such mission lands on the plate of the Allies most fearsome – and fursome – soldier. A certain Captain Grynch. Tasked with finding and retrieving Private Ryan, the Grynch and his ragtag band of expendable soldiers charge into the heart of the Third Reich with a chance to rewrite history, end the war, and be home in time to steal Christmas.
A playwriting debut from Nathan Smith and James Hedges, How the Grynch Saved Private Ryan is a fast-paced and definitely original tale that borrows the best bits from two very different films and attempts to combine them to tell a brand new story of valour, triumph, heroism, and the cantankerousness worthy of everyone’s favourite green, hairy, Christmas-hating villain.
Tickets will be going like fleegle flies on a flat-faced floogle horse so be there, so get one, yeah?
