Language around gender, especially pronouns, is often dismissed as a new 'thing'. This talk explores how using the wrong term in the 1867 Reform Act accidentally gave women the vote.
This talk introduces women's suffrage in the 1860s-80s - including using a government blunder to enable about 200 women to vote in 1869
We'll discover...

The exact talk will be adapted to the questions asked and what that audience is interested in. I'll likely ask if you do know anything before we start so I know what to reference and what needs more explanation. You do not need to know anything in advance; no prior knowledge needed.
Access is really important to me, so I encourage you to bring a quiet activity if that helps you get stuck into the talk! Paper and markers are available on tables.
