Turn it up. The School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans House Band is taking over the Kids Stage at Sober Fest, and they are bringing a full set of loud, no-fake-it rock and roll to Broadside NOLA.These are our students — real kids playing real instruments on a real stage. No tracks, no lip sync. They've spent the whole season at the school building this set song by song, and Saturday is where it pays off.
School of Rock Metairie/New Orleans is an extracurricular, performance-based music school with programs for ages 4 through adult. Guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals, taught in a band and aimed at a stage, because playing live is the part that changes everything. That's the future of music standing up there.
Sober Fest is New Orleans' first and only alcohol-free music festival, presented by Bridge House/Grace House. It's family friendly, with a Kids Area full of games and activities, food from local vendors and food trucks, and non-alcoholic drinks for sale. The lineup also includes Ivan Neville & Friends, Robin Barnes & The FiyaBirds, Flow Tribe and the Trombone Shorty Foundation Alumni Band.
Come watch a student rock band earn it in front of a real New Orleans crowd — then come see us about a free trial lesson.
