About this Event
Dir. Terence Fisher / 1958 / 82 min
Painstakingly restored in 4K from the best original archival materials sourced from around the world, this definitive restoration includes footage believed missing for over six decades — deemed too shocking for UK and US audiences at the time, and previously seen only during the film's original 1958 Japanese theatrical release.
Hammer Films' lavishly Gothic Technicolor take on Bram Stoker's novel (the first to give Dracula FANGS!) introduced audiences to a more gruesome and sexual vision than any before it, setting the stage for nearly every vampire film to follow. Featuring horror titans Peter Cushing as Dr. Van Helsing, and Christopher Lee in the title role that would propel him to international stardom as one of the most popular horror icons of all time.
Every Friday in October, a Stray Cat programmer chose a Fang Favorite to immortalize this holiday season. Prepare to feast on blood, seduction, and a whole lot of angst!
