Hopkins Kindergarten Information Night

We hope you and your future kindergartener will join us to learn more about how we encourage young learners to pursue their interests, find their purpose, and discover their talents. Welcome to kindergarten at Hopkins Public Schools!

This is the first in our series of year-before-kindergarten events designed to connect you to the Hopkins Public Schools community, to share information about each of our six unique elementary schools, and to answer your questions about starting kindergarten.

Meet each elementary principal and learn about our curriculum, program offerings, and our district’s vision of innovation from our superintendent, Dr. Michael Thomas. This event is designed for caregivers and their future kindergarteners. While childcare will not be offered, there will be activities to engage children and allow families to talk to staff. Drop in for this open-house-style event as your schedule allows. We’ll meet at 6 p.m. for a presentation from district leadership. Use your time before or after this presentation to visit with our school staff and other families with children entering kindergarten in Fall 2027.

• An opportunity to connect with our enrollment team to address registration questions.

Info: Find your child’s future principal and introduce yourself. Check out each school’s Fact or Fiction board to learn fun facts about each elementary school. Grab a flier to learn more about the school’s focus and unique attributes.

Info: Representatives from across our school district are here to help you feel confident in starting kindergarten. Stop by their tables if you have questions about enrollment, transportation, before- and after-school care, school nutrition, language immersion programs, or early childhood screening.

Info: Please join us at 6 p.m. in the room at the back of the cafeteria for a brief presentation about Hopkins Public Schools and what you can expect in kindergarten!

Info: Chat with parents about their Hopkins experience or meet other Hopkins families starting kindergarten next year. Check out our Day in the Life mural to learn what your student will do during an average day of kindergarten. You can also visit our language immersion station. Your kindergartener can learn to say “hello” in Spanish and Chinese, and you can learn about Juntos and XinXing, our Spanish and Chinese immersion programs.
