HopeCraft: Music as a Portal to Connection

As part of the 2026 Spirit & Place Festival: this HopeCraft workshop is an interactive and hands on exploration of notable Black musician's contributions to America's collective story. How does music connect us across time, place, and communities?

Our workshop will start with an introduction to HopeCraft and an overview of notable figures/eras that connect to the evening's activities.

Then attendees can choose from some hands on crafting activities and dive in for a crafting session. Our background music will be a community collaborated playlist. Think of this session as an artistic listening party.

Take time to find something interesting, chat with your fellow attendees, and make something fun.

We will close our session with a discussion of what we made, learned, and will take with us!
