The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by VVA-299 and the family of SSgt Glenn R. "Andy" Andersen, USAF Vietnam Veteran, to participate in honoring his service to this Great Nation and the Veteran Community at a Memorial Service to be held at Rock Island National Cemetery on Monday, 09 NOV 2026.
Andy served numerous years as the head of the VVA-299 Honor Guard through 2018, averaging over 250 veteran funerals annually, along with community functions. Andy served as president of the All Veterans Memorial Association, and was active in multiple veterans organizations.
Health reasons caused Andy to back away, and then suddenly it seemed as if he'd dropped off the planet. It was just discovered last week that unknown to anyone, including family, Andy had passed away on 01 JUN 2024 and was inurned at Rock Island National Cemetery as a casual drop off at the Office by a funeral home. His family, coming in from Arizona, and VVA-299 are asking for our assistance in seeing that Andy receives the proper send off with full Military Honors that he deserved.
