This specialty program is geared toward homeschool students aged 6-14, but open to all! We will begin with a one-hour walking tour through the site guided by America's Stonehenge staff, local mom, and former homeschooler Mrs. Katherine! Students are encouraged to ask questions along the trail. There will be an optional activity sheet for students to complete during the walk, which makes a great addition to the homeschool portfolio.
Next, we will move over to our non-sensitive dig pit where Mrs. Katherine will cover archaeology tools and techniques used in a real archaeology dig. Students will dig for artifacts, record their findings, and try to piece together an archaeology puzzle.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. The trail through the site is 1/2 mile and is steadily sloping over uneven terrain. This event is rain or shine.
Families are welcome to arrive early to enjoy their lunch in the picnic grove before the start of the tour. If needed, we can also take a 5-10 minute break between activities for water and a snack!
Event is included with general admission, which is $12 for students aged 4-12, and $19 for adults and students aged 13+. This is not a drop-off event; all children aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
