A walk from Notting Hill Gate to Chelsea via leafy backstreets to see where Agatha lived and wrote some of her most famous M**der mysteries
About this Event

This longer guided walk is in two parts with a mid-way refreshment stop* and it's not just for Agatha Christie fans...

You will surely enjoy this delightful walking tour through the leafy lanes and hidden backstreets within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

There are many things to see and find out about along the way, including churches and pubs and Art Deco buildings and Victorian villas, so the walk should appeal to anyone with an interest in the history of this lovely part of London and how the area quickly evolved from open fields to become a wealthy residential zone.

Agathas's story is fascinating. This year marks the anniversary of 50 years since she passed in January 1976 and 100 years since her traumatic disapearance in December 1926.

Along this walking tour we will visit five of Agatha's London homes where she wrote many of her most famous novels, such as The Mysterious Affair At Styles, M**der on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, M**der At The Vicarage and the the story that would become better known as Witness for The Prosecution.

Throughout her married and working life, she always kept a London home. Most of these properties were in the West, offering handy access to her other houses and family and friends in Devon and Berkshire, also convenient for the West End where her publishers were based and her stories were being staged.

Hear about her life and marriages, the other places she lived and the countries she travelled to, how and where she was educated, the people and places that inspired her M**der mysteries and her disappearance – a mystery in itself.

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The walks and talks I offer are all on subjects that intrigue me and each one highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture of our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them. For more information, please visit www.janeslondonwalks.com
