About this Event

Where: (in the theater), 1120 SE Madison St., Portland, OR 97214

This month’s meeting features two short presentations, HPG advocacy updates, the Contractor Resilience Corner with acupuncture, acupressure, and blood pressure checks, and plenty of time for networking.

Finding Your Voice: How Contractors Can Engage in Building Policy and Programs

Presenter: Alex Boetzel, Associate Director, Innovations & Organizational Sustainability, Earth Advantage, & Governance & Steering Committee Chair, ZERO Coalition

Building codes, policies, incentives, and programs can have a direct impact on how contractors do their work and serve their customers. This short presentation will introduce how contractors can have a voice in those decisions, from participating in building code boards to sharing on-the-ground experience that can help shape residential and multifamily retrofit policies and programs. We’ll also highlight a few low-lift ways to get involved through the ZERO Coalition.

Discover New Contracting Opportunities

Presenters: Nick Olson, Housing Construction Coordinator, & Molly Luft, Lead Grant Coordinator, PHB

The Portland Housing Bureau will share information about two grant-funded programs creating opportunities for contractors: the Portland Lead Hazard Control Program and the new Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF)-funded home energy efficiency retrofits program. The presentation will highlight upcoming projects, contractor requirements, and opportunities to attend bid conferences for future projects. Contractors will gain a better understanding of what’s ahead, how to get involved, and how these programs can help expand their project pipeline.
