What does "Home" mean to you? Whether it is a cherished memory, a favourite household object, or a family photograph, this one-day workshop invites you to explore these treasures to create your own art print. Hosted by paper - works* at Messums Creative, we will guide you step-by-step through the creative world of traditional linocut printmaking.
What to Expect
Tutored by local printmakers Hugh and Lisa from paper-works, the day begins at 10:00 AM with a creative brainstorming session to unlock your ideas. You will learn how to refine your concepts, explore unique mark-making techniques, and transfer your final design onto an A5 lino plate. After a short lunch break, you will move into cutting your final plate cutting your plate, experimenting with vibrant ink colours, working with different paper types to evoke different moods.
By the end of the day, you will learn how to operate a professional printing press and walk away with a beautiful, hand-printed reflection of what home means to you.

Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (A 30-minute lunch break will take place from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM. Please note that lunch is not provided.)
Location: National Provincial Studios, 53 London Road North, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR32 1BJ
Accessibility: Please note that this workshop is held on the first floor and is accessed via a staircase.
What is Included?
Absolutely no prior printmaking experience is necessary! We provide all the specialised tools, inks, and materials you need.
What to bring?
Yourselves, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and either, photographs, sketches or actual treasured objects that you would like to use as your focus for the day.
Every participant will take home their custom-carved A5 linocut plate alongside up to three beautiful, finished prints ready to frame. Spaces are limited—secure your spot today and treat yourself to a day of artistic exploration!
