About this Event
Inspecting Newly Built Homes — A continuing-education workshop that teaches agents to uncover hidden construction defects, ask the right questions of builders, and prepare buyers with realistic expectations before final settlement.
Home Inspections on New Construction is a continuing education class for real estate agents who represent buyers on newly built homes. A new build can still have defects, and a passed code inspection doesn’t guarantee quality workmanship. This class shows agents where problems commonly turn up, why a third party inspection matters even on brand new construction, and how inspections at different stages of the build can protect their clients.
Agents will walk through what inspectors look for in the structure, building envelope, mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing, and the finish details that often get covered by drywall and trim. The class explains the difference between a builder’s permits and approvals and the actual quality of the work, so agents can talk about it confidently with clients and know when a finding calls for a specialist.
Agents leave with practical tools: what to ask the builder, how to read and use an inspection report, and how to approach punch lists and warranty claims. The class also covers setting realistic expectations with buyers before closing, reducing risk for the agent, and helping clients make informed decisions that protect their investment.
