North Somerset Council invites you to attend a free special event to hear about the history of HMS Birnbeck.
About this Event

Phil Curme, military historian, will be delivering a talk on this fascinating time in Birnbeck Pier's history.
During the Second World War the Birnbeck Pier site in Weston-super-Mare was taken over by the Admiralty and used as a secret base for weapons testing.

Relatively little has been known about this time, until recently. Phil's research into this part of the pier's history has been supported by the Birnbeck Pier project, through our social value arrangements with lead contractor for the bridge, Mackley.
The talk will take place at Weston Museum.

There are a limited number of tickets available, pre-booking is essential.

This talk is being delivered as part of a programme of events for Heritage Open Days festival.
This talk is made possible thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The restoration of Birnbeck Pier has been made possible thanks to substantial funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, as well as other funders and supporters.
