Join Leo and Andrea Cakounes - operators of the largest cranberry bog on Cape Cod - for a fascinating look at the future of cranberry farming and conservation. Returning after their popular talk on the year-round operations of a working bog, they’ll now explore a timely new topic: restoring cranberry bogs to natural conditions. Across Cape Cod, towns are transforming former bogs into thriving ecosystems that support biodiversity, and improve water quality. Led by organizations like the Harwich Conservation Trust and Buzzards Bay Coalition, these projects are reshaping the landscape and redefining the role of cranberry agriculture in the region. Discover how cranberry bogs are evolving - from working farms to vital conservation spaces — and what this shift means for Cape Cod.
