This talk explores the changing meaning of furniture in Iran during the Mongol century, revealing how the aesthetics of everyday life were integral to social transformation. It examines how the arrangement of furniture, such as chairs, beds or tables, mediates the relationship between space, objects and the perceiving body.

About Dr Yusen Yu

Yusen Yu is Lecturer in Iranian Islamic Art History at the University of St Andrews. He researches the art and cultural history of medieval Islam and broader Eurasia, with a focus on Iran and Central Asia during the Mongol and Timurid centuries.
