The Hillsboro Preservation Foundation presents the 2026 Hillsboro Holiday Home TourThis year's tour is titled "Holiday times in the Gap through the eyes of children from the past". It will highlight the Old Stone School as well as homes along Gavers Mill Road. Visitors can buy a $18 ticket for a self-guided tour from 9:30 am to 12:30 or a ticket for a guided tour for $25 (Early Bird Price $20 Oct 1- Oct 15) in the afternoon from 1:30pm to 4pm and $32 (Early Bird Price $28 Oct 1- Oct 15)for the candlelight tours from 5pm to 7pm. Four homes and a Old Stone School classroom will be decorated by teams of volunteers. Greens sourcing these decorations will be mainly locally picked.
In the morning, visitors who bought a ticket for a self-guided tour will be able to access the decorated homes on their own from 9:30 am to 12:30. This tour includes a booklet specially crafted for the tour including a map with locations and information about each home. (This year we will have the option of an audio tour available for download at check in the day of the tour)
In the afternoon, visitors for the guided tours will be traveling with tour guides who will give the historical context of the town. They will be welcomed by a docent at each stop who will share with them a more detailed description of the decorated houses.Local musicians will keep the visit lively. Afternoon tours will go from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
Starting at 5:00 pm, visitors will be able to enjoy a candlelight version of the guided tour, walking the streets with lanterns provided by the town. The candlelight tour is always a magical experience.
Tour check-in and the start of all the tours will be nestled in the buzzing Christmas market at the Old Stone School, where the school's music room will be showcased as a stop on the tour.
Market in the Gap, Andy Ghuzlan’s pizzeria will be open for pizza and wine tasting.
