Handel’s Messiah is one of Hilliard Arts Council’s longest and most cherished traditions. The annual performance has been part of HAC for nearly 50 years, with some seasons marking the 47th and 48th anniversaries of the event. It is a cornerstone of the Hilliard Community Chorus season and was the very first event ever produced by Hilliard Arts Council. The concert features the Christmas section of Handel’s famous oratorio, performed by a volunteer community chorus and accompanied by musicians from the Greater Columbus Community Orchestra.
Each year, the tradition brings together singers of all experience levels, local instrumentalists, and community members who gather to celebrate the holiday season through music. The Hilliard Youth Chorus often opens the concert with a short program of holiday selections, adding to the sense of community and celebration.
Today, HAC’s Messiah remains a beloved holiday event that reflects the organization’s commitment to community arts, shared music‑making, and honoring a legacy that has grown for nearly half a century.
