Fall is in full swing, so we're heading out to the Black River Trails for some fresh air, changing leaves, and a little time on the trail before the season really settles in.We'll be hiking the Black River Trail at Kohler-Andrae State Park. This roughly 2.5-mile trail winds through a mix of open fields and forested areas, with plenty of opportunities to take in the fall scenery and keep an eye out for birds, Wisconsin foraging edibles, and wildlife galore.

โฐ 10AM
What to Expect:
- A roughly 2.5-mile trail through open fields and forest
- A mix of natural trail surfaces and terrain

๐ฅพ Late Fall Trail Notes:
By late October, Wisconsin mornings can be pretty crisp, so layers are your best friend. Keep an eye on the forecast and bring something warmer for the start of the hike.
Leaves can also cover roots, rocks, and uneven spots on the trail, so comfortable hiking shoes with good traction are recommended.
What to Bring:
Comfortable hiking shoes, water, a light snack, bug spray, sunglasses, and layers for changing temperatures. A hat or gloves might be worth tossing in your bag too, depending on the forecast.
๐พ Dog Friendly:
Pups are welcome! Please keep dogs on a physical leash no longer than 8 feet, keep them attended and under control, and bring waste bags to help keep the trails clean.
๐ Parking & Other Details:
A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is required for vehicles entering Kohler-Andrae State Park.
We'll be using the Black River Trail parking area at 6167 S. 12th St. in Sheboygan. The DNR notes that this outlying parking area provides access to the Black River Trail and can be less crowded than some of the park's main areas.
Parking can fill up quickly at Kohler-Andrae on fall weekends, so arriving a little early is encouraged.
Alcohol-free โข Waiver provided โข Carpooling encouraged โข Leave no trace
๐ Grab your layers, lace up your shoes, and come enjoy one of those classic Wisconsin fall mornings on the trail. We'll see you at Black River!
