🥾🌳 Dairy Farm Nature Park & Bukit Timah Summit – High Intensity Nature Hike
Join me for a challenging morning hike through some of Singapore’s most interesting green spaces, combining nature, history and a good workout!

⚠️ IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP
- This is a HIGH INTENSITY walk and is intended for participants with above-average fitness. The route includes a strenuous climb to the Bukit Timah Summit, with steep slopes and numerous steps.
- This walk is NOT recommended for anyone with knee problems or other conditions that may make steep climbs and descents difficult. Please assess your own fitness and physical condition carefully before joining.
- In addition, it is advisable not to schedule any appointments in the afternoon. You will likely need some time to rest after the hike, and there is also a possibility that we may reach the end point later than expected, as our pace will depend on the group.
- Please also avoid leaving the group to continue the hike on your own, especially if you are unfamiliar with the route. For your safety, it is best to stay with the group throughout the hike.
🌿 Our Journey
We will begin at Hillview MRT Station and make our way towards Dairy Farm Nature Park, where we will walk along the scenic Wallace Trail through secondary forest.
🐄 Why is it called “Dairy Farm”?
The name is quite literal! The area was once home to a dairy farm established by the Cold Storage Company in the 1930s to produce fresh milk locally. The cows may be long gone, but the name “Dairy Farm” has remained as a reminder of the area's history.
🦋 Who was Alfred Russel Wallace?
The Wallace Trail is named after Alfred Russel Wallace, the famous British naturalist and explorer who independently developed the theory of evolution by natural selection at around the same time as Charles Darwin. Wallace spent several years travelling and studying wildlife across Southeast Asia and also visited Singapore during his expeditions.
⛰️ The Challenge – Bukit Timah Summit
From Dairy Farm, we will take on the most demanding part of our journey — the climb towards Bukit Timah Summit, the highest natural point in Singapore at approximately 163 metres above sea level.
Expect steep sections, steps and a good workout! Reaching the summit will be our reward after the climb.
🌳 Hindhede Nature Park & Hindhede Quarry
After descending from Bukit Timah and if time permit, we will continue to Hindhede Nature Park, a quieter green space located beside the nature reserve.
We will also visit the beautiful Hindhede Quarry, where the former granite quarry has been transformed into a tranquil lake surrounded by greenery — a great place to slow down and enjoy the scenery after our climb.
From there, we will make our way towards Beauty World Centre, where our walk will end and we will have our lunch.
