Dear hikers,Join Us on the October 11 to hike between the amazing Barouk Cedar Reserve and Ain Zhalta reserve (Part of Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve and Shouf Biosphere), on an altitude of 1800 m above sea level.
Located on the slopes of Mount Barouk with an area of 550 km2, Barouk Cedar Reserve has a 6% area of the Lebanese territory as a whole.
The reserve contains one of the oldest recorded Lebanese Cedars (Cidrus Libani), and it is the largest cedar reserve in Lebanon, with more than 1 million cedars and saplings. It also stretches to meet cedar forests of Maaser el Shouf, Bmahrayy, and Ain Zhalta. It is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and Eco-tourism area. It hosts more than 30 species of wild mammals, 200 species of birds, and 500 species of plants. In addition to cedar trees, the reserve also contains other tree types, like oaks, pines, junipers, and many more…
Our 14 kms moderate hike starts from masyaf el mir, it is a part of the reserve that shouldn’t be missed. The compound of the old tree makes a rare gem. Once finished, a beautiful path marked with stones toward the artificial lake observing several kinds of colorful trees then to the panoramic trail (Delta) for about half a kilometer, then leave off the trail and go up to the top of hill. Short but heavy ascent. On top you will have the best view you can ask for. Once there, follow the dirt road near and check the amazing view of Qaraoun Lake - Mount Hermon and the west Bekaa. We continue between the cedars until we reach Ain Zhalta mountain top.
Following that, we will take a downhill beautiful path between dense cedar forest until we we reach the main gate of Ain Zhalta.

1- @ 7:15 pm: jal dib near DHL and Banque Libano Francaise facing the Canadian embassy (we can pick our hikers that live on our way)
2- @ 7:30 pm: near Al Amine Mosque downtown Beirut.

Max min Elevations: 1800 m - 2000 m - 1450 m
Hiking distance: 14 kms (level 5 moderate)
Total hiking duration: 6 hrs
Moving time: 5 hrs
Required materials: hiking boots, backpack, hat, 3L of water, windproof jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hiking stick, raincoat.
Fees: 25 USD or equivalent to the LBP market rate (including transportation, guidance, giveaways, but does not include medical insurance)
Barouk reserve entrance fees:
Lebanese: 5 USD
Foreigners: 10 USD
